Vampires, werewolves or zombies?

Vampires, werewolves, zombies, evil wizards, elves or dragons? What would you rather write about? Read about?

Or would you rather write about something more obscure? I have a WIP concerning a gumiho--- a shape-shifting fox woman which is known in Asian culture. They are also called kitsune--- the Japanese name (gumiho is Korean). Not sure I like the name gumiho though. It sounds like a lady of the evening who accepts gummy bears as a form of payment.

Actually, I'd rather take after the works of HP Lovecraft and write about unnamed horrors from beyond. I recently discovered an interesting twist on the genre in the webcomic Ow My Sanity. Of course, that sort of thing isn't for everyone.
